Marmite Test

It just doesn’t quite work.

Having a Queen track on an advert is bound to turn heads but that’s the only positive for me. The edit could be much more effective, it seems loose and somewhat detached. Equally puzzling is the decision to choose a track that’s been used so recently and memorably in a film; the image of pummelling zombies with pool cues has little to do with chocolate.

Fit to brand

As purveyors of the finest purple wrapped chocolate it’s hard to see where the connection is to the brand except the occasional flash of Cadbury’s purple, similar to the ‘Gorilla’ ad. If the idea is to create a series of adverts that have nothing to do with the brand, a sort of anti-branding, but which are there purely to entertain, that can’t be a bad thing but is this a step too far?

Kerching factor

With no actual reference to a product this won’t make anyone buy a chocolate bar. What the advert inspires is a water cooler moment where people will say ‘have you seen that new Cadbury’s ad!’ Love it or hate it people will talk about it’s scale, it’s sheer ridiculousness it only remains to be seen if that talk is positive or negative.

Marmite Test

Totally did nothing for me! Loved the Gorilla. This was just boring, uninspired and uninteresting.

…awful, awful song for that ad. The gorilla ad worked cause it was a good piece of music to back it, id actually like to know what that ad would be like if they added a different track to it.

Fit to brand

Sorry but I found this uninteresting, very nearly bland. It doesn’t bring anything to the table, found myself waiting for something to happen… …Gorilla worked for every reason that this doesn’t.

Kerching Factor

If it's so bad why has it got you all discussing it? Hmm, must have worked then ;)
