Collaborative Consumption Presentation Music

A bit of soundlounge news – we’ve recently had the pleasure of working with Rachel Botsman to license a music track for her TEDx Talk on Collaborative Consumption. The results:

The days are long gone when presentations were given and forgotten. Now, in the YouTube era, any presentation you give could be online for all eternity. Scary thought!

So maybe licensing music might be the last thing on your mind. But it’s important to cover all your bases legally, for when your small conference video suddenly goes viral. A great solution for most presentations is a production library track. While a hit song might cost £8,000 per use, this library track we found for Rachel cost a one-time fee of £200 to license for unlimited use.

Finding Music For Peugeot – It’s Easy As 1 2 3

We don’t normally post our work on this blog, since finding great music for clients is just what we do! However, since this TV commercial for Peugeot 308 CC Allure aired last week, we have been inundated by people asking what song we chose. Well, it’s ‘Easy As 123′ by Stephanie Kirkham, a new artist soundlounge discovered while carrying out one of our in-depth searches. We look forward to seeing her career blossom…

Finding the Right Soundtrack – the Real Value of Music Supervisors

Imagine a commercial with music so alluring and contemporary that it draws thousands of YouTube visitors within weeks with comments like “can you tell me from where i can download the song please?” and “it’s really awesome!!!”. It must have used a hit song or a track from a new artist with Record Company marketing clout, and it probably cost tens of thousands of dollars to licence, right? Listen for yourself…

In reality this track chosen for the new Canon commercial (“Blackbird Song” by Ben Cocks) was from a production music library. The truth is that it was significantly less expensive for our client than a hit song would have been. And the song’s production quality and “catchiness” is on par, if not ahead of, most higher-profile tracks out there. Read more…

The soundlounge office can be quite the cacophony of sounds from time to time, but there are days when the stars align and we all agree not to touch the eject button on the stereo receiver.  This led to my favorite personal pastime, which soundlounge will now open to the public:  top five music lists.

This week we will focus on the currents – the discs that have yet to be shelved and still remain within an arms length of the stereo.

With respect to the author of High Fidelity, Nick Hornby, and the great cast from the film, especially John Cusack and Jack Black – we shall begin.

Now that our blog is up and running, we will be working to bring our open forum to the front lines of the music industry’s most pressing issues.  At soundlounge, we work with brands and agencies on a global level to discover ‘the sound of their brand’ and to deliver consistent, inspired sounds that engage the consumer at a whole different level.  This editorial intends to learn and to share with artists, producers, companies and brands across the globe.  Without a doubt some fun will be had by all.  Speak to you on day two.
